lunar tides

the new moon.
time to let go of….individuals,, expectations,, outdated ideals.
i find that in relationships and in most things, that which matters most is your own behavior. were you kind, forgiving and patient, do you have no regrets. it is through the trials of experience that we develop this longview with respect to the present moment.
there will be a total lunar eclipse on February 20th at 7:31 PST and 10:31 EST.
a lunar eclipse suggests that something has got to go, empowering us with the ability to eliminate waste.
But today is February 6th which is the new moon. The new moon is a powerful time to clean, to intend, to try. I am doing all of those things so involuntarily powerfully that, even as it nears 4 a.m. , I am still intending away, even though I have a running date with myself and the beach at 7 a.m. sharp.
i wonder how you experience the new moon?
I am in business school. Two of my classes require reading the Financial Times daily. So now that I have traveled and lived abroad in exotic places for years, I finally start blogging about my daily life: not when I am grappling with cultural experiences and new nations, but when my mind is consumed with investment and banking considerations. YESSSS! Lucky you guys!
So I thought we could break down the U.S. economic crisis into really interesting bite size pieces. Do you know which countries are the U.S.’s largest trading partners? Guess.
While you are thinking about it, and before I tell you the answer, I will tell you about a friend and neighbor I have here in California. The scrubjay. I am not sure I was familiar with scrubjays before I moved here, but these birds have become a significant part of the backdrop to my life here. They are quite pretty, and they have this squawkish beller that they let rip!!! ..The kind of singing where you tilt your head way back and hold the microphone as you would a big juice jug you are trying to get the very last drop from. The kind of singing where your eyes are squeezed shut and your hands are in a clenched fist raised in the air.

Snow in Saudi Arabia!
January 22, 2008
I can hardly believe it. The Saudi kingdom is being hit with subzero temperatures and snow storms with freezing winds of up to 30mp/h. Some regions have been experiencing problems with water supplies as pipes have frozen, and livestock have died from the cold. The upside is that everyone is going wild making snowmen often for the first time in their lives. It became a trend to drive around with snowmen as hood ornaments.

Thanks for this lovely Barak Obama speech that I woke up and read first thing today, Martin Luther King Day. It influenced my day and my vision for the future. It is a call to reach deep within and reach out to others. The speech is almost 30 minutes but do take time, perhaps in the evening, and watch it all.
